Certifications

Learn more about our certifications and how they benefit the care of your pet.

Our Certifications

Fear Free

The doctors at Whiskers and Paws Animal hospital have completed Fear Free℠ training and certification. This means we have committed to doing everything possible to decrease fear, anxiety, and stress during trips to the hospital. This allows for a better experience for all involved- including pets, owners, and the veterinary team. To become certified, our doctors completed a comprehensive, 8-part educational course and exam. Annual continuing education is also required to maintain certification.

Cat Friendly

All of our doctors have earned the Cat Friendly Veterinarian Certificate from the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). This certificate demonstrates their commitment to advancing the standards of care for cats. The knowledge, skills, and best in-clinic practices gathered through this certification provide better feline-focused care for our clients and patients at Whiskers and Paws Animal Hospital. This certification was earned by completing a 9-part course with examinations.

USDA-APHIS Accreditation

When pets travel internationally, many countries require an international health certificate to be issued by a veterinarian prior to being endorsed by USDA-APHIS. At Whiskers and Paws Animal Hospital all our doctors are USDA-APHIS accredited for international and national health certificates.

AAHA

Our hospital is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA. AAHA is the only organization that accredits veterinary practices in the United States and Canada. Practices that choose to pursue accreditation are evaluated on 940 quality standards in 18 categories covering all areas of veterinary practice—from anesthesia and surgery to record-keeping and client communication. Today, only 12%–15% of veterinary practices in the US and Canada hold the “AAHA-accredited” designation.
